Sorry Rusty, Bob & Ray - i inadvertantly deleted your prior posts. I'm still trying to figure this out myself.

Thanks for reading and responding.

Hey Jim,
No problem about the deletion. I was curious to see what people thought about:
1. Moving away from Boston's Cape Cod Tournament weekends, and having something special closer to RI. And,
2. Moving the RI DIV Championship from Exeter to somewhere else.

I did see, briefly, that you moved the Championship from Exeter to Triggs? I didn't have time to read the whole message before it disappeared.

I have booked the 2009 RI division championship for Triggs - Saturday and Sunday - August 15 & 16.

1:30 shotgun start each day - carts will be mandatory.

Despite the late start each day, the shotgun should make for a more exciting event - most participants will stick around for the awards ceremony following conclusion of play on Sunday.

I am undecided on having a dinner following play on Sunday - your comments will be appreciated.

Hello Everyone:

I'm looking forward to the course change for our Division Championship! It was time for a change of venue for that tournament! Jim, keep us posted about the possibility of a dinner! With the shotgun start, it sounds like a good idea if the price is right.

It would be nice to have more RI private courses on the schedule. The privates have alot to offer that we don't often see. I know that it is difficult to get on most of them, but many of our members may be able to help in that area.

One last thought...I think that it would be fun to have an annual "Ryder Cup" tournament with the MA division. What do you all think?

I agree with Rusty on more private courses. I would think private courses will be more willing to give us decent rates now that membership is down for almost all of them. In fact, you could almost market BAGS at private courses- since everytime I play with a member of a private course they always complain about how they play the same course over and over again.
A Ryder Cup would be cool, too, but the format would have to be just stableford, not match play, I think?

Ryder Cup would be cool. Off handicap, using handicap, match play. Maybe!

Thanks,That first blog was a tester because i've done this 6 times and all get lost? So thanks again for last year to all i played with and to Jim Rooks for a good time also. For the future I hope we work together so we the players get to play where we like and for the right price,Triggs is one of the problems where they screw everybody that plays there, even ther members a for groups as large as we are and we should not take it any more,SO STAND UP AND SAY NO TO THESE COURSES!!!!!R.I. Division tour.should have gone to a site were we can walk, they can cook, friendly, and don't cost 100.00 per day with the extras,if you think i'm wrong then email me to tell me that triggs won't be about a 100.00 a day without DINNER,and i got swamp land for sale, and for Sticky Fingers Steve of MA.and the cape we say GOOD BYE and keep your 4 pay out places after we all have teed off boy that a bunch of BS,when i started eight years ago the pay outs were 6 or 7 spots and first place was near 100.00 that would get you one and half return plays with bags!We need to work as a group and get more for our dollar, and we will get more privite courses, like Valley=fees start at 65.00cheaper that triggs, early spring Rusty and I played Foxwoods for 125.00w/cart,range balls, drinks&snacks with a second round free!!TELL ME if you can beat that,PLEASE,BOB

This blog looks like a good idea for us to keep up to date with whats going on during the season and to post comments we may have concerning the courses, etc.
Where can I find the preliminary 2009 schedule that has been mentioned in some of the messages.

Hi All...

I just wanted to mention that Highfields in Grafton, MA, about 1 hour from Providence, was a really nice track... I mention this because in season on weekends with a cart was about $60, with a fantastic club house.Best deal, bar none!

Also, what I think is one of the top facilities in N.E., was Fox Hopyard in East Haddam CT, just over an hour from Providence. It's a little pricey in season but a great off season play.

You need to watch Triggs closley. My son ran tournements out of there for a few years. they tend to cram the A.M. sessions and push P.M. late. You end up with a 9 pm meal

News Release
On a beautiful Saturday, May 30th, Ed Guertin & Dick Burt attempted to qualify in the local qualifier for the ESPN National Golf Challenge held at Bay Pointe CC in Onset, Ma.
Bay Pointe CC is a 6201 yard long (back tees) fun & challenging golf course. And it was in great shape.
65 golfers joined Ed & Dick to fill 7 spots for advancement to the regional final to be held at Crumpin-Fox GC in western Massachusetts in August.
Successful qualifiers at Crumpin-Fox move on to the nationals to be played in Las Vegas.
2 gross teams of 2 players, 1 senior 2 member team & 4 2 member net teams advanced to Crumpin-Fox GC.
Ed & Dick just missed out qualifying for the senior & net teams by 2 shots recording a net 62.
It was a great day.
BAGS should schedule a tournament there in the future, very reasonable green fees.
